Mini-gardens for children’s homes

Our Green Growth Champions organised a fundraising in mid 2021 to start mini-gardens for children's homes. This was a welcome initiative in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic where most children couldn't attend school and prizes for healthy food rose. The mini-gardens, or gardening tables, are built by inmates from the country's jail as part of a resocialisation project. Mrs. Lilian Wiebers from Stichting Kari Yu Foundation coordinates the distribution of the tables to children's homes. NATIO represents Mama Sranan

The men's national soccer team of the Republic of Suriname, called Natio, qualified for their first-ever CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament. In July 2021 they have represented Suriname in the USA. The team chose to represent Suriname as the Most Forested Country on Earth. They wore unique shirts with the Suriname flag and FOREST 93 messaging, and voiced this messaging in the many interviews for international press. New natural product: Tuhka roasted Brazil nuts from Alalapadu, South Suriname

On July 5, 2021, indigenous village Alalapadu introduced roasted nuts as a product extension of its TUHKA brand. A new product line has been added to the now well-known Tuhka oil, from the indigenous village of Alalapadu in South Suriname: roasted Brazil nuts. These Brazil nuts are intended for consumption and have a positive impact on the immune system due to their richness in fiber, protein and selenium (particularly good for cardiovascular diseases and the prostate). Christio’s vlogs in Busi Taki

In the web serie Busi Taki vlogger Christio will research various nature related topics. Every week he will look for information of his interest. He asks experts "what is forest?" and "do our city parks count as forest?". He also researches the impacts of the new Environmental Framework Law and the need for mangroves in the coastal area. Then he dives into financials, the value of forest and satellite technology. Because there is so much to discover... All vlogs are published on www.busitaki.sr . Citizen Science via the Green Growth Forest App

With the Green Growth app, interested citizens can contribute to keep Suriname the greenest country on earth with 93% forest cover. Citizen scientists who keep watch on tree logging can contribute to complement existing national data on forest conservation. Data gathered by citizens can help scientists understand the drivers of tree logging and find solutions for it. Suriname has few data on its forests due to limited well-funded research and monitoring institutions. The country aims to gather much needed data to effectively make decisions, plan and manage forests. “The power of Suriname” tweens museum tour

We have sponsored daytrips to the Villa Zapakara Museum in Paramaribo for 250 tweens (aged 10-16 years) from various community organizations who would normally not visit the museum. The museum currently has the Sranan Krakti (meaning Suriname Power) exhibition highlighting the power of our cultural diversity, the healing powers of our nature and information on our joint history. For the tweens a team quiz battle is introduced as a special F93 program element to test their knowledge of out Suriname nature. The tween tours were temporarily postponed due to COVID-19 and restarted at May 28.

Welcome in the most forested country on earth with JAP Airport

During the close of airspace due to COVID-19 the team worked hard to recreate the welcome at the international Johan Adolf Pengel Airport. In cooperation with Airport Management (Luchthavenbeheer NV) we have transformed the entrance into a nature themed space to highlight Suriname’s “welcome in the most forested country on earth” message.

Streetart with Paramaribo Live Museum

The Paramaribo Live Museum street art project is on its way. The project aims at beautifying Paramaribo’s inner city to make it a more enjoyable space for citizens and tourists. The Paramaribo Live Museum aims to highlight Suriname’s rich cultural history. With the streetart project at the corner of Heiligenweg and Waterkant a retired utility building is beautified to make it into a meeting spot for passersby, moreover, the corner will be part of the historic city tours performed by United Tour Guides Suriname because of the many historic events that took place here.
