From March 8-12, 2024 the first Forest93 Ambassador Trip was organised to the indigenous village of Kwamalasamutu in the South of Suriname.
Forest93 Ambassadors Lindsey van de Wetering, Christio Wijnhard, Jean-Pierre Veira, SuperSharda and got the opportunity to visit this Trio community. The group was completed with archeologist Irene Meulenberg and entrepreneur Oliver Smith. All participants were enthusiast to visit this community and be inspired for their respective careers and interests.
One of the highlights of the trip would be the visit to the petroglyphs of Werehpai. Due to the low water tides a boat ride of 2.5 hour and hike of another 1.5 hour started… and then we still had to head back before dusk. But, it was all worth it. The participation of archeologist Irene Meulenberg and her knowledge made the trip even more interesting.
All Ambassadors have their specific interests and passions regarding culture and nature. Guide and wildlife expert Jean-Pierre convinced SuperSharda to join him on a night walk through the forest to check out local wildlife.
Forest93 Ambassador SuperSharda visited the indigenous village of Kwamalasamutu in the far south of Suriname in March 2024. She was particularly interested to learn about the preserved decades-old culture and talked with the women about their crafts and skills. Take a look at her adventure.
