Guan Elmzoon, widely recognized as All Star Fresh, is a highly talented DJ and Producer with a remarkable wealth of experience. His mastery of turntablism (DMC World Championships) and profound musical expertise have earned him immense respect and admiration from audiences all around the world.
All Star Fresh embarked on his illustrious career in 1979, which swiftly propelled him to international fame. After captivating audiences in prominent clubs across Amsterdam and Spain, particularly Mallorca, he sought out a new challenge. In 1988, All Star Fresh clinched victory in the Dutch Mixing Championships (DMC), leading him to be invited to compete at The World Mix Championships held at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London. Despite fierce competition, he secured a well-deserved third place.
His groundbreaking performance at the London event caught the attention of Dave Funkenklein, manager of major Hip Hop artists, who invited him to enter the Lion’s Den in New York. All Star Fresh became the first non-American DJ to reach the finals of The World Supremacy Battle of DJ’s during the New Music Seminar, resulting in numerous invitations to perform alongside world-renowned artists, such as Public Enemy, Stetsasonic, Ice-T, and Ultra Magnetic MCs.
Beyond his prowess as a DJ and turntablist, All Star Fresh is also renowned as a skilled producer and recording artist, notably as the founder of KING BEE. Under his production, the track ‘Back By Dope Demand’ became one of the most prominent hip-hop hits to emerge from the Netherlands.
All Star Fresh’s creative endeavors extend to collaborations with iconic production teams like Snap, celebrated for their hit single ‘I Got the Power.’ Together, they featured the single ‘Lets Get Busy’ (Clubland Quarts feat Snap introducing King Bee), which soared to the number 1 position on the Billboard Dance Charts in the USA. Apart from other successfull collaborations in Europe, especially the Netherlands.
Guan is born in Suriname as proud member of the indigenous Kaliña tribe. The life lessons taught by his indigenous (grand)parents are becoming more and more prominent in his song texts and productions. After a decades long international career, he is on his way home: reconnecting with his culture and its spiritual lessons . He is ready to be a voice for his people through his skills and talent in music. As a Forest93 Ambassador, since June 2024, he will not only be this voice but also actively support Forest93 projects benefitting indigenous causes in Suriname.
